In this week’s Sunday Suburb Spotlight, we catch up with Licensed Estate Agent and Auctioneer Mitchal Towns to talk all things Mitcham – an ideally located, family-friendly suburb.
How would a new home buyer benefit in Mitcham?
A new home buyer would benefit in Mitcham because there are a lot of affordable properties on the market, particularly apartments.
Why do people want to live here?
I see Mitcham as more of a stepping stone for people these days. They want to buy in Blackburn or Box Hill but can’t afford it. New developments are bringing in a lot of first home buyers which we haven’t seen in the area for quite some time.
What do you believe is Mitcham’s main attraction?
The main attraction is the convenience. It’s close to EastLink and has fantastic public transport including a train network which really sets it apart from areas like Manningham. Shopping is also a big drawcard with Britannia Mall in the centre of town and Brand Smart in Nunawading and Eastland in Ringwood also nearby.
Where’s the best place to eat out?
Dark Horse on the Brit.
Where’s the best place for family activities?
List four things that best describe this suburb.
1. Centrally located
3. Business hub
4. A diverse mix of properties
What makes Mitcham a vibrant and lively place?
Definitely the café culture. The Mitcham Hotel is great too, regularly hosting live bands.
