In this week’s Sunday Suburb Spotlight, we catch up with Sales Consultant Trevor Lavigne to talk all things Croydon Hills.

What makes Croydon Hills a great place to raise a family?
The average time a family lives in Croydon Hills is 18+ years so what that tells you is that it’s very family-friendly. Families want to move here because some of the best schools are nearby including Yarra Valley Grammar and Luther College. Surrounded by a lot of parklands and sporting fields, it also has good public transport with easy access to shopping at Eastland, McAdam Square, Croydon Central and even Chirnside Park. It is very central but being a little further out and away from the main roads, there’s little traffic.

Are there activities and/or community groups in the area that are suitable for elderly people to join?
Yarrunga Community Centre offers programs in health, wellbeing, arts and crafts as well as Yoga, Tai Chi and Pilates. Croydon Hills Men’s Shed is also fantastic for men of any age to join. They work on various projects throughout the year and host car shows and garage sales.

How would a buyer benefit in this suburb?
People that move into the area stay long-term. If they leave it’s because they’re looking to downsize after the kids have left or they’re moving completely out of area. With families living there long-term you’re certainly going to see some really strong capital growth.

List four words that best describe Croydon Hills.
Family-friendly, peaceful, quiet and well-located.

Is there good public transport?

Where’s the best place for running, cycling or a picnic?
There’s a lot of open parkland so you can run almost anywhere. Because it is so quiet it’s also very easy to bike ride. The Yarra Valley also isn’t too far away.

Where are the best places to eat out?
If you want a good brunch or lunch The Rumour Mill or Scented Garden Café at McAdam Square. They’re the two that locals tend to frequent.
