Online Auctions: A Step-by-Step Guide to Bidding

In an effort to prevent the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Federal Government announced a slew of restrictions on public gatherings including property auctions and open homes. As a result, real estate agencies around the country have begun to embrace new technologies and strategies to ensure homes are still being inspected, sold and settled.

Anywhere Auctions is an online platform that streams property auctions in real time and lets you bid from the comfort of your own couch. You can register your details securely, place live bids, execute contracts and communicate with the listing agent all in a completely digital environment.

Let’s get started!

Visit Anywhere Auctions to create an account or download the app via the App Store for iOS devices or Google Play for Android. To prevent fraudulent and unethical behaviour by online bidders, you will need to provide credit card details for pre-authorisation and a few forms of ID. Rest assured this information is stored securely.

Start exploring properties for sale. Once you’ve found your dream home, register to bid using your Anywhere Auctions ID.

Once you’ve been approved as a registered bidder by the listing agent, you’ll receive automated reminders about your upcoming auction.

On auction day, sign in and select your auction. Watch the auction in real time and place your bids with confidence. A bid ladder will keep you up to date with the latest bid data and notifications will keep you updated on the status of your own bids.

If you are successful, congratulations! You’ll receive a call from the listing agent and proceed to electronic contract signing. If the property passes in, you’ll be given the opportunity to private message the listing agent to express your interest and request a call back to negotiate.
