How to prepare your home for a Winter Sale

The colder winter months make house hunting less pleasant but serious buyers are always on the look out for the right property.

We can’t emphasise enough the importance of first impressions. You want buyers to instantly connect with your home, and creating that feeling of warmth and comfort can ultimately be the difference between them returning to inspect and making an offer or choosing to search elsewhere.

With just a bit of preparation, you can set your home up for a successful winter sale. Here are our top tips.

Winter days are generally overcast, so you’ll want to make sure your home is well-lit for open for inspections. Ensure windows are clean and open up blinds and curtains to let in as much natural light as possible. Turn on lights and lamps for a boost and a bit of ambience.

Climate control
When it’s cold outside, make your home warm and inviting. Put the heating on a comfortable (not stifling) temperature approximately half an hour before your open.

Consider updating your décor to freshen up your home and complement the season. Add cushions, throws and a plush rug. Candles are also great for styling and fragrance.

Street appeal
Pay particular attention to the front of your home. Mow lawns, clear away dead branches and trees, rake leaves and perhaps add some potted plants for colour. You may even consider adding a mat and/or umbrella stand in the event of a wet weather day – it’s convenient for those inspecting your property and will help keep your home clean.
