Manningham

The City of Manningham’s council motto is “Balance of city and country”. And it’s not just marketing spin.

Talk to a resident of Manningham and they’ll tell you there’s something special about living in a location that is minutes from both the heart of the city action and some of Victoria’s most delightful bushland.

A Brief History

After being occupied by thousands of years by the indigenous Wurundjeri tribe, Manningham was settled by Europeans in the 1830s.

In 1851 came the gold rush, with Warrandyte becoming a centre of attention for many a prospector. In truth, there were few who struck it rich and the area’s economic bedrock was for a very long time, in fact, fruit.

Indeed orchards dotted huge sections of Manningham until well into the 20th century.

The Acre Belt

If you’re looking for a bit more land than the average block can offer, Manningham is un-missable.

Famous for its acre belt, the municipality has a seamless blend of suburban and rural, meaning you’ll get the space you’re seeking without the isolation.

Warrandyte

Nothing demonstrates the amazing contrasts of Manningham better than Warrandyte.

It’s an old-fashioned country town bordering a state park and bisected by the Yarra River. And it’s less than 30 kilometres from the CBD, and not far from the Eastern Freeway.
